FIGHTING FILMS SHOOT IJF SEMINARS IN RIO

Fighting Films flew out to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, at the end of March to work with Japanese judo legend Yasuhiro Yamashita.

Yamashita, the new coaching and education director for the International Judo Federation, wanted Fighting Films to record a series of seminars he’d organised on how judo should be taught to children across the world.

“We’re the top specialists in producing multi-language judo DVDs,” said Fighting Films director Simon Hicks. “It’s a big challenge for us to be helping Mr Yamashita to achieve his ambition as coaching director.

“But I feel that we can rise to the challenge and produce something that’ll be as valuable to coaches of beginners as our other products are to top class fighters.”

The production also involves Fighting Films travelling to Scotland, France and Italy to record children being taught by top coaches Peter Gardiner, Michel Brousse and Franco Capelletti.

The launch date of the product will be at the World Congress in Cairo, Egypt, on 5th and 6th September. Yamashita will give away copies to national coaches in the build-up to the World Championships, which begin in Cairo on September 7.

Afterwards it’ll be made available by Fighting Films as an IJF product. A price has yet to be decided.

Hicks added: “I hope it will help us improve our reputation for supplying top class product all around the world.”
