'THE FIGHTING FILMS GB WORLD CUP EXCEPTIONAL’

The Fighting Films GB World Cup was widely described as one of the best judo tournaments ever to be held in Great Britain.

As headline sponsors Fighting Films not only shot and produced the 24 minute Sky Sports programme, they were largely responsible for the presentation and design of the event.

Here are some quotes from fighters and members of the British Judo Association who were involved in the World Cup:

BJA Chairman Densign White said: "In my role as EJU Sports Director I have the privilege of attending most European World Cups, and I can honestly say the inaugural Fighting Films GB World Cup exceeded my high expectations. The podium, lighting and facility combined perfectly to give a real theatrical feel to the presentation. Simon Hicks and his team at Fighting Films were instrumental in the design of the layout and this is reflected in the exceptional TV footage taken at the event."

Sian Wilson (GBR), -78kgs bronze medallist, said: "It was really good with the atmosphere and the lights. It just makes you feel special. It was very good."

The NIA, Birmingham Junior World Champion Rhonda Rousey (USA), who won the gold medal in the -63kgs category, said: "I loved Birmingham. It was a good tournament for me. I loved like the lights and the little light show with the spotlight on you as you came onto the mat. It was hard for your eyes to adjust because we’re not used to that big stage stuff because we’re used to fighting in a gym or a sports hall. I love that stuff, it gets you pumped up. It feels really cool. It was like a highlights film and it felt like you were in one."

Scott McCarthy, Chief Executive Officer of the BJA, said: "I have attended Paris, Hamburg and Rotterdam and I believe the Fighting Films GB World Cup can sit proudly amongst them as an exceptional World Cup. The presentation in Birmingham was superior to those better established events and this was largely due to the partnership with Fighting Films. It was a definite benefit to have FF as name sponsor and partner and the final 'look' was outstanding. I see tremendous potential to grow this event quickly into one of the top three events in Europe."
