DA COSTA, SHINJIDO - A New Fighting Style, will be available to buy from www.fightingfilms.com on October 16.Shinjido, or ‘Danny’s Way’, has been invented by Danny da Costa, a Judo 6th Dan and European Silver medallist, Aikido 4th Dan, and boxing champion.
This DVD is unlike any other in the Fighting Films archive. As it says on the back cover: is da Costa a ‘fighting genius, raving lunatic or harmless buffoon? Feel the power of his techniques and make up your own mind’.
"It was fun to make," said da Costa, "It should be fun to watch and very instructive."
Shinjido contains a feast of new and highly effective skills - inspired by Judo, Aikido, Tai Chi, Genghis Kahn and a passion for jelly babies.
Filmed by Fighting Films Director Simon Hicks at the first High Wycombe Shinjido course, the techniques taught are devised for use in competitive judo and self defence situations.

da Costa is joined by 1981 World Champion Neil Adams, who coaches a session on transference, and 1992 Olympic Silver medallist Ray Stevens, who demonstrates some highly original newaza techniques.
Comments from the High Wycombe course included: "I have learnt more today than I have in all the years I have done judo", and "I never knew you could have so much fun on the mat".
There are several extras on Shinjido, including an additional techniques section, an hillarious interview with the ‘Master’, and an Off the Mat feature.
Nigel Brooks (to find out who he is get the DVD) said: "I felt in the presence of greatness. Awe inspiring martial artist, wonderful healer, saintly yet hilarious company, it was a privilege to interview him."
