The action from both the men and women’s event will all be crammed onto one DVD, making for an action-packed Fighting Films epic.
"The biggest problem is fitting so much great action onto one DVD," said FF Director Simon Hicks. "What I can guarantee is a judo extravaganza, with hundreds of exciting moments and big throws."
Infront of a frenzied and packed home crowd the French women were unstoppable on the first day of competition, blasting their way to the gold medal.
In one of the most remarkable team performances of all time the French demolished a Japanese team full of world and Olympic champions in the semi-finals, before defeating Cuba in the final.
On the second day of competition there was even more excitement and drama to come in the men’s event.
Japan had to be strong favourites, but again were undone by the power of the home side in only the second round.
In an incredibly tight and tense affair against Russia, the French were then knocked out in the semi-finals. Meanwhile the Georgians overcame all three opponents on the other side of the draw, including Korea in the semis, to take their place in the final.
"The final is a masterclass in the Eastern European, wrestling style of judo," added Hicks. "To have two former Soviet states competing against each other at such a high level, makes for an absolutely mouthwatering final."
To find out what happened in the final, and in all the other contests and bronze medal fights, you will have to wait for the DVD.
A release date of early December is expected. In the meantime, Fighting Films will be releasing ‘Da Costa, Shinjido’ on October 16 and ‘Adams and Briggs, Modern Competitive Judo’ by the end of the month.
