The official record of the 2007 World Judo Championships from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is about to be released by Fighting Films on DVD.After six months in the making, the two DVDs will be made exclusively available by FF at the start of June.
“These two DVDs are FF’s best competition productions yet,” said FF Managing Director Danny Hicks. “They are both two hours long and are action-packed from start to finish.”
The DVDs contain highlights from all 16 weight categories and extended highlights of the medal contests.
Witness fantastic results from Great Britain, with Peter Cousins taking silver at -100kgs and Euan Burton winning bronze at -81kgs. See them charge through the preliminaries, scoring some remarkable Ippons en-route.
As well as the British stars, there’s a chance to see some of the all-time greats in world judo returning to action.
In Part 1. The Heavyweights the three-times World and Olympic Champion Kosei Inoue (JPN) is back, and fighting at +100kgs, while Ryoko Tani (JPN) is looking to win a record seventh World title in Part 2. The Lightweights & Open.
There are numerous shocks and upsets. With a frenzied home support behind them Brazil are looking to take some major medals, and some big scalps along the way. The Japanese are here in force, as are the Cuban women and the Georgian men.
There is a huge clash in styles, but which one will come out on top? The traditional judo of Asia? The wrestling of Eastern Europe? The originality of South America?
Both parts are shot in widescreen, with multiple camera angle coverage and hundreds of replays.
Hicks added: “Keep an eye out for the extra features. There are flashback stories from previous tournaments, profiles of the big stars and some stunning judo sequences to music. Make sure you watch it from the very start to the finish, so that you don’t miss a thing.”
Part 1. The Heavyweights and Part 2. The Lightweights & Open will be priced £25 each, and will be available in June.
