Tip 6- Its not just about the throw

Although the vast majority of Inoue’s contests END with the spectacular ippon throw, it would be a mistake to think that this is all that's important in Inoue’s judo. In fact, for Inoue, everything leading up to the throw is just as important as the throw itself. When fighting, he is constantly using movement in his upper body and small attacks, such as his Ashi waza to unsettle his opponents. This means that when fighting Inoue, an opponent’s mind is ALWAYS on Inoue’s judo rather than their own. This helps Inoue maintain his perfect posture and keep his opponent in the position he likes. Every single thing that Inoue does from the moment he bows on, to the moment he bows off is crucial to achieving the end result- Ippon!
