The 1991 World Champion, Sergei Kossorotov from Russia, returns to magnificent form in an exciting clash with Frank Moller (GER). Pavel Nastula (POL) defends his -95kgs title in a category packed with formidable Judo men like World Champions Stephane Traineau of France and Antal Kovacs of Hungary, Britain's Ray Stevens, Russia's Dimitri Sergueev and the new boy on the block, Pedro Soares from Portugal.

Ulla Werbrouck (BEL) produces textbook techniques in the - 72kgs, whilst Kate Howey (GBR), uses powerhouse moves. The experience of Emmauella Pierantozzi (ITA) in the -66kgs and Diane Bell (GBR) in the -61kgs sees them through to dramatic finals. At -86kgs Vincent Carabetta (FRA) and Oleg Maltsev (RUS) produce another classic match, and Ryan Birch (GBR) struggles to defend his -78kgs title against Patrick Reiter (AUT), Djamel Bouras (FRA) and Johan Laats (BEL).
