1995 European Judo Championships - The Lightweights & Open

Great Britain's National Indoor Arena provides the venue for the most spectacular European Judo Championships ever staged. Available on video only.

The 1993 World Champion Nicola Fairbrother, from Great Britain fights to regain the European title at -56kgs against a new talent, Israel Fernandez from Spain. At -52kgs Heidi Goosen's (BEL) great groundwork and Allandra Giungi's (ITA) throwing skills provide and excellent clash of styles. The -71 kgs see Martin Schmidt (GER) in great form, whilst spectacular Judo in the -65's comes from Philip Laats (BEL). Yolanda Soler (ESP) is determined to retian her -48kg title and the remarkable Angelique Serise (NED) aims to add another Gold medal to her collection of European titles in the Open, whilst Imre Csosz (HUN) comes up against the new German heavyweight Ralf Koser in the mens Open.

But the climax of the tournament is undoubtably the maginificent battle in the final of the -60kgs between Britian's "pitbull" Nigel Donohue and the "Georgian terrier" Georgi Vazagachvili, both looking for thier first European title.

The tape also features an action packed special report on the 1994 European Club Cup finals from Paris.
